Source: Montgomery Advertiser, Ala.新蒲崗迷你倉Aug. 26--Investigators executed 13 search warrants in Alabama and Georgia and rescued 367 dogs in what is believed to be second largest dog fighting raid in U.S. history.The raid was the culmination of a three-year investigation the Auburn Police Department initiated.Agents executed 11 search warrants in Alabama and two in Georgia on Friday, and 11 people named on a federal indictment had been arrested as of Monday.There were three names redacted from the indictment, and U.S. Attorney George Beck said those people had not been arrested yet.Along with the 367 pit bull terriers, agents seized guns, narcotics, drugs used to train and treat the dogs and other evidence of dog fighting, authorities said.Officials said the dog fighting ring stretched from Alabama into Georgia and Texas, displaying the reach that dog fighting operations can have.The FBI, local law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Middle District of Alabama were assistedmini storageby the Humane Society of the United States and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in the investigation.In one yard, there were 114 dogs, most of them tethered to heavy chains, with no food or fresh water anywhere around, according to an ASPCA veterinarian.Dog fighting operations often are in isolated areas, said Tim Rickey, vice president of field investigations and response for the ASPCA."It is intentional by the dog fighters," Rickey said. "People are less likely to notice it."Chris Schindler, manager of animal fighting investigations for HSUS, said he expected the operation to have a significant impact on dog fighting in the U.S."I absolutely think this is going send shockwaves through the dog fighting community.
