Source: The Columbus Dispatch, OhioAug.迷你倉 29--The 17-year-old who led police on a violent weeklong manhunt, leaving three people dead and two others severely injured, has been charged with the fatal shooting that started it all.Devonere Simmonds was charged yesterday in Franklin County Juvenile Court with the murder of Quinten Ellis-John Prater on July 21. Prater and James E. Norvet III were found in front of 771 Lilley Ave. at 1:25 p.m. that Sunday. The next day, Simmonds went to his mother and told her he'd unintentionally shot someone. She called Columbus police. She also told detectives someone else might have been involved and gave the street name "Kane" -- later linked to 18-year-old Nathaniel Brunner.Information from Simmonds' mother will "be used as evidence, I'm sure, and it was very beneficial that she called in and assisted," said Sgt. Steven Little of the police homicide squad. " We started looking for him right away and making every effort to find him."The shooting was no accident, despite what he told his mother, Little said."If it's an accident, he accidentally forgot to call us," he said. "He accidentally forgot to do a lot of things."For now, Simmonds is only charged with Prater's death in that incident, Little said. Detectives believe a second person committed the assault on Norvet, who was critically injured but has since been released from a hospital. That second person is likely Brunner, though he has not yet been cha自存倉ged, Little said. The confession to his mother wasn't enough to charge Simmonds, but DNA on the discarded shotgun used to kill Prater was linked to Simmonds, Little said. Two days after the confession, police said, Simmonds, Brunner and a third man, Darrell Durham, 18, walked into the Convenient Plus Food Mart on E. Livingston Avenue and fatally shot clerk Imran Ashgar about 11 p.m. The three were caught on the store's surveillance camera, and all have been charged in his death.Hours after shooting the clerk, Brunner and Simmonds shot an acquaintance, 17-year-old Lamont Frazier, police said. His body was found that morning on the sidewalk at Oakwood Avenue and Forest Street. Both have been charged in his killing.A bullet pulled from Frazier's body matched the .22-caliber handgun found with Brunner and Simmonds when they were arrested in Dayton on July 27.Little said charges could be filed today against Simmonds for his last act of violence that week -- the carjacking and shooting of William Joseph Rudd at a truck stop in Madison County.Hours after shooting Rudd in the head, Simmonds and Brunner were found asleep in Rudd's Dodge Magnum behind a house in Dayton. All of the incidents will be prosecuted as "a continuing chain of criminal events," Little said.@allymanningCopyright: ___ (c)2013 The Columbus Dispatch (Columbus, Ohio) Visit The Columbus Dispatch (Columbus, Ohio) at .dispatch.com Distributed by MCT Information Services迷你倉新蒲崗
