ON MY way home by train from Orchard Road on Christmas Eve at about 8.mini storage30pm, I saw three young people, who looked no older than 18, occupying one seat each and seemingly asleep. There were parents with toddlers and elderly commuters on the train. One of the young people opened his eyes and knew there were commuters who needed his seat more than he did.Another commuter actually tapped one of them on the thigh to urge him to give upself storagehis seat, but the request fell on deaf ears. The young man simply shut his eyes and went back to "sleep".Are these young people, and many other able-bodied commuters, so tired that the moment they get into the train and find a seat, they fall into slumber? Are we not gracious enough to offer our seats to those who need them more? Perhaps such graciousness should be promoted in schools, workplaces and TV commercials.Sam Koh De Xiang迷你倉
