Chan said a fortune teller had told their parents that yesterday was a “lucky day to get married” for them.At Wong Tai Sin, couples paid tribute to the god who, Chinese lore has it, connects two lovers with a red thread so that they will never be apart. The lovebirds prayed and tied blessed “red strings of fate” on each other’s wrists in front of the golden statue of Yue Lao.And singles looking for love were not left out. Some 288 were invited to join a mass speed-dating event at Ocean Park.They were chosen from more than 2,000 applicants from Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines and Thailand who wanted to take part in the event organised by the theme park, the Hong Kong Tourism Board and a firm called Speed Dating Fever.The first 48 pairs of singletons took part in three rounds of creative but romantic challenges around the park – including the rainforest and animal exhibits – in the hope of finding a partner in plenty of time for next year’s Valentine’s Day fun.迷你倉
