Source: Greeley Tribune, Colo.儲存倉Aug. 16--Five people have died on Weld County roads this week and authorities are warning drivers to be careful and obey speed laws.A failure to negotiate a curve on U.S. 85 left three people dead after a single-car rollover north of Nunn early Thursday and speed may have been a factor, according to police."When you're in a vehicle, whether you're the driver or passenger, don't become complacent," said Colorado State Patrol trooper Josh Lewis. "You can be a very safe driver but, as we've seen, unfortunately, even safe drivers can have tragic results if they're not paying attention."Weld County Coroner Mark Ward identified the victims as Michael DeLa Rosa, 21, of Cheyenne, Mariah Lynn DeLa Rosa, 19, of Cheyenne and Michael Gnoato, 21, of F.E. Warren Air Force Base near Cheyenne. The details of what caused a late model Hyundai sedan with five passengers, all from Wyoming, to leave the highway is still unknown, according to Lewis.Police were called at 5:43 a.m. to milemarker 298, which is just a few miles south of the Wyoming border on U.S. 85, on a report of a single-car crash.Although the crash is still 迷你倉沙田nder investigation, police do not initially suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor. All but one person, who died, were wearing seat belts, said Lewis. One 22-year-old male, believed to be the driver, was airlifted to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. A female passenger with life-threatening injuries believed to be in her 20s was airlifted to North Colorado Medical Center.Lewis said it appears the driver failed to negotiate a slight curve in the highway, left the right side of the road, hit an access road, and then the car went airborne and rolled at least once before landing on its roof. Speed is being considered as a factor in the accident.Lewis said even the best drivers can easily be caught by surprise, so he urged drivers to watch their speed and drive cautiously. This crash brings the death toll on Weld roadways to 26. As of this time last year, 25 people had died after crashes in the county.Tribune staff writer Whitney Phillips contributed to this report.Copyright: ___ (c)2013 the Greeley Tribune (Greeley, Colo.) NEW YORK, Aug.儲存 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue:Infrared Detectors Technology & Market Trends.reportlinker.com/p01591389/-Infrared-Detectors-Technology--Market-Trends.html#utm_source=prnewswire&utm_medium=pr&utm_campaign=Wireless_TechnologyNext growth opportunities spotted outside traditional markets: smart building automation and mobile phone businessTotal infrared detector market generated revenue of more than $153M in 2012, mostly due to the mature motion detection market which relies on high-volume sales of automatic lighting and intrusion detection systems. However in a scenario that includes spot thermometer function in mobile devices, it is expected that these revenues will top at $381M in 2018, growing at a 16% CAGR, fueled by :-- Small detector applications, especially in consumer mobile applications. That growth in mobile applications is expected to be driven, in the short term, by adoption of monopixel sensors for internal temperature measurement and spot thermometry in smartphones and tablets. Technological innovation will be the key to compete successfully with other technologies in that market. Wafer-level-packaging will be necessary to successfully address these markets driven by price and looking for ever smaller form factor sensors. A specific scenario for adoption of IR sensors in mobile devices raises the market revenues in 2018 by $30M.-- Array detectors which range from medium size (4x4 to 16x16 pixels) to large size (32x32 and above) are expected to grow at a ~30% CAGR in the 2013/2018 period. Medium size arrays have started to be successfully sold in HVAC for buildings and automotive, people counting for retail, home appliances and will continue to expand due to affordable pricing. Large size arrays are expected to target the key market for smart building automation that will use a wide variety of detector functions and could support higher pricing. However, overall, these positive market dynamics will be fueled by detector price erosion. This report includes market insights in units & revenue by market segment and also by detector resolution. IR detector market forecasts are realized for 2013 - 2018. The report includes an overview of small IR arrays for imaging purposes, but the complete analysis of infrared imaging applications is covered in another Yole Developpement report: "Uncooled Infrared Imaging".Technological evolution has historically pushed IR detectors toward higher-end markets with array detectorsLow cost and easy to manufacture, IR detectors have been used in a wide diversity of markets such as construction, security, appliances, and industrial, and for a wide variety of functions, e.g. motion detection, temperature measurement, counting, fi re & gas detection... Initially limited to single pixel pyroelectric detectors with a basic motion detection function, IR detectors have progressively been used in more complex systems which diversifi ed the market into higher-end applications such as temperature sensing, or gas & fi re detection, spectroscopy... At the end of 2000, that diversification has been pushed further into the high end of the market by the introduction of array detectors. Multiple companies, led by Heimann Sensors, adopted a "technology push" strategy to introduce IR detector arrays either based on pyroelectric technology or thermopile technology. Coming from the MEMS industry, several companies like OMRON & Panasonic have ensured the domination of thermopile technology on the array detector market by capitalizing on their nowhow in complex MEMS structure manufacturing. However, in 2013 the domination of thermopiles has been challenged by a new entrant based on a technology coming from the infrared imaging market: ULIS. The very large IR detector is the fi rst microbolometer having a true resolution (without windowing) below 100x100 pixels, which aims to gain market share in the developing large IR detector market. In 2014, competition in the small microbolometer array segment is expected to increase with FLIR, the market leader of uncooled infrared imaging. In the future, it is expected that the next technological step for IR detectors will be at the packaging level with either vacuum package or Wafer-Level Package, and at pixel level with manufacturing process optimization to decrease pixel pitch. Objectives of the reportProvide market data on key infrared detectors market metrics & dynamics:- Infrared detectors sales in units & in revenue by market segment- Market share by player- Application focus on key growth areas for infrared technologies-- Provide key technical insight into future technology trends and challenges-- Provide an in-depth understanding of IR detector value chain, infrastructure and players:- Who are the industrial IR detector players (IDMs, foundries, design houses) and what is their market and technological position?- More generally, who are the key suppliers to watch and how will the IR detector market evolve?KEY FEATURES OF THE REPORT-- Market segmentation by 10 applications and 4 technologies. Source: The Eagle, Bryan, TexasAug.文件倉 15--Members of one out of every four households in Brazos County are unsure of where or how they will get their next meal, according to the nation's largest hunger-relief nonprofit group, Feeding America. The Brazos Valley Food Bank, which works daily to bridge that gap, hosted its 20th annual Feast of Caring at the Brazos Center on Wednesday to raise funds and awareness of hunger in the community.Theresa Mangapora, executive director of the food bank, said the event began as a way to alert the community to the hunger issue and to let it know that there's a simple solution."The idea of the event is very simple. It's beans and rice, a little bit of sausage, a little bit of salad," Mangapora said. "A lot of people would think that's a very provincial, a very modest meal, and that's on purpose so that it's a reminder of what would be a feast to someone who struggles to put food on the table."Every year the meal is free, but donations are accepted. Mangapora said $45,000 was raised during last year's event, and this year the nonprofit organization was hoping to break the $47,000 mark.Mangapora said people often misconceive what hunger means for families and individuals in America, likening it to famine in Third World countries where people may go days or weeks without eating."That is not domestic hunger," she said. "Domestic hunger is skipping meals, small portions, not having access to the healthy food and struggling daily to make choices. Do I pay the light bill? Do I pay my rent? Do I pay my car payment? Or do I eat? Al存倉 of those other things have consequences, big consequences, if you don't pay them. You can be homeless, you can have no car, no transportation. You can, as an individual, a human being, skip meals and still live. But I feel like that is not the ideal of what we want for Americans, it's not the ideal of what we want for folks in the Brazos Valley."Bryan Police Chief Eric Buske and College Station Police Chief Jeff Capps stood among the crowd chatting after volunteering to serve food."I think being a part of this just shows that the police department is part of the community," Buske said. "There's nothing more basic than feeding people who need to eat. The food bank does a great job of that and we just like showing our support."Daniel and Candice Vines and their children, ages 9, 8, 4, 2 and 9 months, drove from Edge to attend the lunch as a family."Helping the food bank is such an easy way to help people in the way they need it most," Daniel Vines said. "It's hard to really appreciate having food on our table every night because we haven't gone through it."A large family with several young children, Candice Vines said she wants to teach her family to always "be mindful" of others."We may always have enough food, but not everyone does," she said. "If we teach them to be helpful now, they'll grow up to be helpful later in life."To donate or learn more about the Brazos Valley Food Bank, visit .bvfb.org/events.html.Copyright: ___ (c)2013 The Eagle (Bryan, Texas) Visit The Eagle (Bryan, Texas) at .theeagle.com Distributed by MCT Information Services自存倉

From iPads taking food orders to an automatic hair-washing service, the minimum wage has hastened technological changes to replace cheap labour, writes Elaine YauWhen customers walk into the Fix-Up Hair Salon in Tuen Mun, there won’t be the pampering wash and scalp massage that many have come to expect of a shampoo session.迷你倉出租 They lie back in the usual reclining chairs and, instead of being served by a shampoo assistant, they have their heads strapped to a machine that does the washing. The automatic hair-washing machine can’t undertake tasks such as colouring treatments or perms that require more expertise and skilled fingers. A bowl-like device that is attached to the head, it works by shooting powerful jets of water and shampoo or conditioner solutions at programmed intervals. To ensure thorough cleansing, the process normally takes about 15 minutes – double the time an assistant would take to lather and rinse a head of hair. But Fix-Up boss Ricky Wong Wai-ki reckons the HK$70,000 machine is well worth the investment.Since installing eight of the hi-tech devices at his chain of six salons in 2011, he has been able to employ 18 fewer people. “I used to employ six people in each salon to wash hair. Now, I only need three.”And unlike employees, Wong adds, “machines never get upset”.Small businesses in Hong Kong are embracing automation and digitalisation as never before. The shift, which has gathered momentum in the past two years, is driven by manpower shortages and increased labour costs stemming from implementation of the minimum wage.Wong says going automatic was a last resort.“It was never my aim to replace people with machines. I have been forced to do so. It was very difficult to get junior staff after the minimum wage came in. I used to pay [shampoo assistants] HK$5,000 a month, but after that I had to pay between HK$8,000 and HK$10,000.“Washing hair is a tough job. Assistants are on their feet for up to 10 hours, and must do menial chores like sweeping the floor. Some develop blisters on their hands from prolonged contact with water.“With the minimum wage, they would rather take more comfortable jobs – as a security guard, for instance.”His job ads placed with the Labour Department no longer drew responses. So when Wong learned about the machines – first used in elderly care homes where labour shortages were even more acute – he decided to give them a go. The trial worked so well, he bought seven more machines. Many other salons have also installed the units, Wong says.A similar shift has been occurring in the dining scene: Simon Wong Ka-wo, president of the Federation of Restaurants and Related Trades, says many restaurants have digitalised or automated services to help reduce labour costs. At a Chinese restaurant in Happy Valley that he frequent, for instance, diners now make their selection from menus on iPads, and the order is sent electronically to the kitchen. This allows the restaurant to hire fewer people as they need just enough waiters to bring dishes to the table.“When you finish dining, you go to the cashier to pay by Octopus. Unlike before when lots of waiters milled around, the 3,000 sq ft dining area has just one manager and two to three servers,” Simon Wong says.“After the launch of the minimum wage, we were faced with a problem. On one hand, automation replaces people and pushes up unemployment rates. On the other hand, restaurants find it difficult to get staff to fill basic posts.”Wong estimates the catering industry, which previously employed 230,000 people, has shed about 30,000 jobs as business owners sought lower-cost alternatives after the minimum wage came in. Set at HK$28 per hour when introduced in May 2011, the minimum wage was this year raised to HK$30.Census and Statistics Department figures show that 14,800 people, representing 5.8 per cent of catering industry workers, were unemployed between March and May, up from 12,000 people, or 5.2 per cent of workers, in the same period last year.Difficulty recruiting people to wash dishes gave restaurateurs Alex Liu Ka-po and Ricky Au Wan-kit the idea two years ago to set up a central dishwashing company – and it’s proved to be a winner. The pair were so short-handed at the time “we had to wash some dishes ourselves,” Liu says.So the partners set up Diwash, which now operates two plants in Siu Sai Wan and Chai Wan, both equipped with large machines which can wash even fragile glassware.“Only the airport uses such a large washing machine,” Li儲存倉 says. “In my restaurants we used to have an eight to 10 per cent depreciation rate because of breakages by workers. Here in our plant, the rate is three per cent.”They employ 30 people who first sort the tableware and cutlery, remove food residue and give the dishes a cursory rinse. The plates and bowls are then placed in the machine and cleaned using superheated steam.”Diwash’s clientele has grown from three restaurants to 50. Customers first make a one-off investment to buy an extra set of tableware and cutlery. Dirty dishes are placed in containers and collected for washing each day, with a clean set sent back to the restaurant the following day. For restaurants with a high daily turnover, retrieval and drop-off are done on the same day, Liu says.“We never intended to replace dishwashing staff, who we respect a lot. But we had no option: not even one person came for interviews when we placed job ads in the newspapers,” Liu adds.Business at the central dishwashing company is so brisk they will open a third plant in Kwai Chung next month.Another trend gathering pace in the catering industry is restaurant chains setting up central kitchens to serve individual outlets.“Cooking procedures like stewing brisket are done in the central kitchen instead of in situ,” Wong says.Caf de Coral, for instance, opened a HK$600 million central food-processing centre in Tai Po Industrial Estate in April, after starting a plant in Guangzhou in 2011.“Centralisation of food production can ensure efficiency, food safety, consistency and economy of scale,” a Caf de Coral spokesman says. The fast-food chain has also installed machines at some outlets that allow diners to make orders and pay for them electronically, dispensing with a cashier.Similar devices have been installed in canteens at City, Chinese and Lingnan universities as well as the Hong Kong Institute of Education.Everich Business System, which specialises in electronic systems for the catering industry, developed the software. Its sales manager, Chan Yee-cheung, says the machine can be programmed to take some individual specifications, for instance, instructions for more rice or less sauce. Such a machine, which would cost more than HK$30,000, is linked to the kitchen. They have long been used in Japan but only recently took off in Hong Kong, Chan says.“Our clients include staff canteens and small Chinese noodle shops. It can help cut down on cashiers. The food kiosk can automatically alter the menu at different times.”Property managers, too, have been going electronic to reduce staffing pressures.Alkin Kwong Ching-wai, president of the Association of Property Management Companies, says more high-end residential estates have installed Octopus systems for residents’ entry.“We are short of about 300 people. The use of the Octopus system, together with installation of more closed-circuit televisions [CCTV], can allow managers to cut down on security personnel,” Kwong says. “Instead of having several people guarding various exits and making floor patrols, you just need one person monitoring all the CCTV.”At some blocks, residents must insert an electronic ID card to activate the lift, while other building managers are exploring access systems that rely on phone apps or facial recognition. But Kwong concedes tenants may find the latter annoying. “They might not like to stand still for faces to be scanned by a machine. The use of such biometric information can also raise privacy issues.”Alex Tsang Sze-lung, assistant professor at the Baptist University’s Business School, says the introduction of the minimum wage has been a catalyst for further automation.“Automation has always been with us but minimum wage has sped up [adoption]. The phenomenon is a double-edged sword. On the plus side, it helps reduce labour costs and standardise delivery of services.”However, automation also removes flexibility and makes it harder for a company to build a rapport with its customers, so there’s a limit to relying on machines, Tsang adds. “People need interaction with each other.”Knowledgeable and friendly serving staff make a big difference to the customer experience in any decent establishment, says Ricky Au, who operates six restaurants.“If everything is done by machine, why not just eat at home? The automation trend will only accelerate in Hong Kong, with low-skilled jobs being phased out.”Unless they get some suitable training, poorly educated workers will be left in the cold.elaine.yau@scmp.com迷你倉沙田

Source: The Lima News, OhioAug.迷你倉價錢 15--LIMA -- Poor Jack Amusements will roll into the Allen County Fair for a 34th time.Gary Bohlander, one of the owners, said 1980 was the first appearance."I guess someone there likes us because they keeping asking us back," he said.Bohlander said Poor Jack Amusements has 30 rides. Most of the year, the company splits into two smaller groups so they can cover two smaller venues in one week. Only when they came to a large venue like the Allen County Fair do they bring every ride they have. They also like to add to their rides every few years. Last year they added the Freak Out to the inventory. The ride has become very popular and will be returning to Lima this year. Bohlander said it would probably be a few years before they add another new ride as they have to research to see what is out there and what appeals to the crowds.Along with the Freak Out, Poor Jack Amusements is bringing back favorites like Wipe Out, Sizzler and the ever-popular classic Ferris Wheel. Rides are broken down into four groups: Rides that are for small children only; bigger rides for small children that adults can accompany them on; thrill rides that appeal to small children, older kids and adults; and thrill rides for older kids and 迷你倉庫dults, which have a height requirement.Bohlander stated that some people may be concerned about safety after hearing about accidents at major venues like Six Flags this summer. He feels Poor Jack Amusements are as safe or safer than those at major amusement parks. His people put the rides together, take them apart and operate the rides on a daily basis. Because they are so familiar with each piece of the ride, they are aware when something isn't working right or looks wrong and immediately take it out of service until it can be repaired. At major parks, the rides are built by one group of people and have a different group of people as maintenance crew. Then they are operated by people who are hired for the summer."They don't know the rides from the inside out like my operators do," Bohlander said.Rides open at 4 p.m. Friday. Armband specials are available for $13 and can be used from noon to 5 p.m. Monday and 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Armband special for 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, Thursday and Aug. 24 are $15. Moonlight Madness is $20 and runs every night of the fair from 6 p.m. until closing.Copyright: ___ (c)2013 The Lima News (Lima, Ohio) Visit The Lima News (Lima, Ohio) at .limaohio.com Distributed by MCT Information Services儲存

Source: Tampa Tribune, Fla.迷你倉Aug. 15--TAMPA -- Despite all the hype, a well-developed mass transit system doesn't really give cities and counties a leg up in competing for high-paying jobs.At least that was the opinion of some executives who talked to Hillsborough County's transportation policy group Wednesday. The executives, who specialize in helping industries find suitable locations, said other factors are more important to businesses: a skilled work force, the weather, and the ability to move products quickly and cheaply by highway, port, airport or railroad. But traffic gridlock as a detractor? Not really."Would they really not do a project just because there's a little bit of traffic congestion here at 5 o'clock?" asked C.J. Evans, of Merit Advisors. It was a startling message for the policy group, which is trying to decide what transportation improvements should be made and in what areas to spur economic development. The group consists of all seven county commissioners, the mayors of the county's three cities and the chairman of the HART bus system board. The policy makers also heard from three manufacturing managers at the Wednesday meeting who said their workers would use mass transit if it was more convenient.Ken Jurgensmeyer, operations manager at Heat Pipe Technology, said he doesn't think any of his employees use the HART bus system. But that could change, Jurgensmeyer said, if more bus routes were available and the buses could get his employees to work at their 6 a.m. starting time."I think (it would work) with an outreach program, where it would make it into the culture of the organization," said Jurgensmeyer. "We're an energy recovery company so we would promote that."Tom Morris, plant manager of Plastipak Packaging in Plant City, said as many as 15 percent of his workers would ride a bus to work if there were numerous and convenient routes. Morris said he came from Atlanta where 30 percent of his employees rode either the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority trains or buses to work."I think it would make an impact," he said, referring to an expanded bus system.Members of the policy group said the message they got was that mass transit is important to some businesses and not so important to others. Commissioner Kevin Beckner said business managers in the New Tampa area have told him they have trouble getting their employees to and from work."I guess it would depend on 文件倉he work force," Beckner said.Commissioner Mark Sharpe, who pushed for creation of the policy group, said after the meeting he still believes an efficient and expanded mass transit system is vital to creating high-paying technology and biological science jobs in the county. To back his argument, Sharpe cited the online publication, Area Development, which ranks different metropolitan statistical areas of the country in terms of their economic development potential. The Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater MSA was ranked 315th out of 380, Sharpe said. The Denver area, on the other hand, was ranked 7th. Sharpe said Denver has 1,000 buses compared to Hillsborough County's 200. Plus, Denver is planning to increase it light rail system from 35 miles of track to 155 miles, he said. In 2010, Hillsborough voters rejected a transportation tax of 1 cent per dollar to build a light rail system, as well as buy more buses and expand roads."When you look at where the regions are which are producing the best in regards to job creation and economic development, it's those areas that have invested in their transit systems and their buses," Sharpe said.Meanwhile, the county government responded to a request from pro-transit groups to create a timetable for the policy group's work. By Nov. 30, the group should identify economic development areas and a transportation network that will serve those areas. After that, the policy group will create some type of governance mechanism that would implement the plans. That mechanism _ yet to be identified _ would be in place by Jan. 31.The governing group would adopt a business plan by Sept. 1, 2014, which would include some way of funding the projects. By Oct. 1, 2014, the initial projects would begin.County Commission Chairman Ken Hagan insisted that the plan's timetable be flexible and the policy group agreed. Leaders of the coalition pushing for mass transit said they were happy with the plan."They provided a schedule with robust public input," said Kevin Thurman, director of Connect Tampa Bay, a pro-transit group. "It shows elected leaders and county staff are committed to not only discussing this issue, but taking action on it and taking action in a reasonable amount of time."msalinero@tampatrib.com(813) 259-8303Copyright: ___ (c)2013 the Tampa Tribune (Tampa, Fla.)
